There's been a little bit of a gap, but that's not uncommon this time of the year for us. It's a busy time, plus we've moved into our new location. Sure, it was only a 1/4 mile a way, but w/o a moving truck it becomes fast apparent just how much stuff we were able to fit into our little shop. Fortunately we now have two floors to spread out. Yes, we know, we'll fill this one up quick too. Come on in and check it out - maybe you could help us clear some room?
April 24, 2008
This is monumental. We had originally stopped playing the "counter game" but I didn't realize we would hit the following landmark so quickly. We've gotten 10,000 hits on the website as of today. April 1st of last year we had achieved the 3,000 hit mark which means in juuuuust over one year we've had 7,000 hits to our website. Hm. Let's see...that's about 583 hits a month, 145 hits a week, which boils down to about 21 hits every single day for a year.
I think that's a good sign, right? As much as Dave and I still feel like we're the "new kids on the block" (no, not the reuniting boy band), we've also realized that we've become The bike shop for so many of our customers and have helped at least hundreds of people get up and out on their bikes.
We want to send out a sincere thanks to all those that have come to us because you still believe in the local shop, service, attitude, friendliness and all the things that come along with a shop that really is looking out for your best interest because biking is a sport we love and love to share.
Alright...enough with the cheese - here's to a good year and many more to come!

If you've been keeping up with our little news bits, or perhaps have been getting our e-newsletter, you'll first know that we were looking for a new place to fix your gear and sell ours - but did you know that we've found that place, just a few blocks from where we are now...officially in Old Town Fairfax!? Is that a run-on sentence?
So, the official new address, starting June 1st, 2008 will be 10376 Main St. Fairfax, VA 22030. Sure you can click it if you prefer to look at a map. It's a two level establishment which we plan to separate primarily into a pretty retail shop upstairs and a dirty, grimey repair shop downstairs. Which will you choose?
We'll be moving during the month of May, so bear with us during the transition - believe us it will be worth it!

Well, we're at it again. If you were one of the lucky one's to visit us around this time last year, then you know what it's like to shop in an environment which is under construction. We've exceeded the capacity of our current surroundings (again) so we're tearing down more walls to give us (and you) a little more room to breathe.
The rate at which we're filling the shop is growing faster than we can build. We've developed a couple of ingenious storage methods which will tide us over for the meanwhile, but someday, not sure exactly when, we'll have to actually pick up and move to a larger location. We envision this taking place towards the end of 2008 during the off season and we desperately want to stay in the same area and continue our commitment to the George Mason University students and faculty and of course the residents of Fairfax City and the surrounding area. If anyone has any suggestions we'll be keeping our options open as the season progresses.
For now...please pardon our construction!

Well, we made it! How about all of you? We here at Oasis wish you and your family a very successful 2008. Now success in our world is of course measured by riding farther, faster and smarter than you did last year.
2008 promises to be a big year for cycling. Gas prices are rising and bike paths are opening. GMU will be having their first annual "Bike to Mason Day" this year which shows an important trend for our youth but also for adults trying to find alternative means of transportation.
There are committees working on the issue of safer commuting as we speak. Their work will be heavily reflected in this and upcoming years. We welcome the challenge of meeting the demand of up andcoming cyclists - bring it on!
Happy New Year!
December 25, 2007
Okay, you've got us, it may not actually be December 25th yet. But if you're checking this at 10:34pm on the 24th, you need to buy a trainer or something. Either way, we wanted to be prepared and wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Once we finished creating the cartoon below, it occurred to us that there are plenty of holidays celebrated around this time and not just Christmas, so HAPPY HOLIDAYS! (unfortunately we already created the cartoon with Santa) Our apologies to those celebrating other Holidays! :)

Well, we're closed today (like all winter Mondays) so I thought I'd do some WORK! What kind of life is this?! :) During the holiday season is always a good time to reflect over the past year and so far, boy can I say in respect to the bike shop "What a Ride!"
I just wanted to thank everyone who has come to the shop to support us during our first full year in our new retail environmnet. It's meant a lot to see so many of our family and friends come out and especially all the new customers of ours of which we really value your new friendships.
It may be a little early, but - Here's to another year!

"Gobble, Gobble!!!" Happy Thanksgiving everyone. While we'll be closed today, we'll be back in action tomorrow and the rest of the weekend.

October 24, 2007
Boy, those Redlines are really selling themselves...of course that goes unsaid for the Kona's.
Oh, and my sister's birthday, Nicole Feuchtner, is today! Happy Birthday to her! (I put her full name in there so it will show up on a Google search:)
Also, we're nearing the end of October and (until a little shower today) the weather has been amaaaazing! If you're anything like me, you'll try to spend as much time in the outdoors as possible. We will be carrying a wide array of winter cycling accessories, such as warm gloves, long sleeve jerseys and jackets and most importantly some of those great self contained hand/toe warmers!
Until then, take a nice long ride outside. After I flatted the other day, some videographer was trying to make me look bad by filming me walking around my favorite little town of Springfield...of course sporting my Duff T-Shirt. Whoever you are (dang paparazzi) I still appreciate you emailing us the footage! Next time, catch me on my bike, that shouldn't be too difficult!
